this introvert is going to #pbevent

I did the craziest, maddest thing in the world earlier today. Sitting at my laptop, next to Toni on her laptop, both of us juggling cranky girls, I bought a ticket to the ProBlogger Event in August.

In typical Cate-fashion, I'm already mentally trying to talk myself out of going, while making hundreds of plans for all the things that need to be done before I actually go.

It's my first blogging conference (I kind of like that they don't call it a conference, makes it sound a little bit more special), and I'm just a little bit beside myself with excitement and terror!

Last year, as I watched from the sidelines while bloggers got ready to head off to the conference, I wrote this piece about letting our husbands have some autonomy on our weekend away. And while I still stand by every word of that post, as I ponder the changes in our world since then, I know that I'm going to be doing the very things I suggested others don't do. I'm starting to write the lists tonight!

So, over the next 146 days (yes, I counted, using the days.to website) I'm going to mildly freak out, panic, write thousands of lists, do lots of shopping for stuff that I'll probably never wear, write some more lists because I've lost the first ones, and blog all about it. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

What's your number one tips for introverts to survive big groups of people?
Are you going to #pbevent?

  1. In the end we can hide in our room with chocolate if we freak out! I plan on going through my wardrobe before I buy anything new (but I highly doubt I'll actually get around to it).

  3. I'm going:) If you're going with Toni you'll have a friend to support you. That'll make all the difference in the world. I look forward to meeting you Cate.

  5. I'm going too! I went to my first pbevent all by myself in Melbourne and I was so scared to talk to anyone! But I survived and went again.

My tips would be "fake it 'til you make it" - no one will know its your first time if you don't tell them so pretend you're an old hand; and don't be afraid to escape to your room if it starts to feel overwhelming - I find even ten minutes alone in my room gives me the 'time out' I need to jump back into the crowd.

    Looking forward to seeing you!
