Hello Monday

Inside - On Mondays, we welcome the week ahead by embracing the things we do, whether that's goals we set, or just living life.

hello confidence - I can't seem to overcome this "who am I to be saying it" voice in the back of my head, which overwhelms me when I try to move forward. Which is silly, because I have this quote over my desk that says

One of the things that helps people build confidence is doing things.

And I always feel better after doing things, because I realise it's actually not as hard as it feels. And it's always easier to ignore that voice when you're in action.

project - daily writing

action step - write every day for 1 hour.

reward - watch "Manchester by the Sea" on Sunday

hello photos - With Sophie at school now, it feels like there isn't as much happening during the day to take photos of. I know that's not true, but I need to remember to actually use the camera.

action step - 1 photo to the theme each day

reward - 15min reading each day

hello wardrobe audit - Late last year I spent two days sorting out clothes in my room, trying them on, putting them away (even folding them), but in the months since, there are clothes in drawers that I haven't worn, and clothes piled on the spare bed again.

It's time to get rid of those things in drawers that I thought I might wear one day, and work out what's missing from an autumn wardrobe, or needed for winter.

project - sort the washing pile

action step - put clothes away

reward - listen to "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack while working

hello walking - I have been so terrible at walking the dogs for months now. It's felt difficult to find the balance of time without kids and not too hot, and been generally easier to dismiss it as too hard. And while the dogs have been played with, and often run around the yard playing rough with each other, they've forgotten how to be polite when they see other dogs and people and cats while out walking (also another excuse I've used for not taking them.)

And my stress levels have suffered for it, too.

project - walk dogs once each day

action step - walk around block each evening

reward - tired dogs and kids

hello Monday, a new start every week

  1. The heat is such a big factor this time of year though. I usually stick to only going out for walks when there's no sun!

  2. Oh I can't wait to feel some sunshine - this seems to be a long, chilly winter in England this year! I like your plan to reward yourself every time you reach your goal for the day.

  3. Oh I need to walk more, I know the benefits, but I just don't seem to push myself.
I have been clothes shopping for myself though, something I am really bad at making the time for. I have realised I can't keep doing for everyone else, I need to spoil myself!

  4. I hear you on the wanting to walk but the weather being so walking unfriendly. This is yet another reason I dislike Feb's weather. However, just to call me out, there has been a rainy cool change come through and life feels better already!
Thank you for linking up to #lifethisweek 8/52. Next Week's Optional Prompt is Taking Stock - the list of word prompts is on the end of my Monday post.

  5. I couldn't agree more, I find ease and confidence in the things I practice on a regular basis. And not just because I have to be dragged kicking and screaming into situations where I am forced to try something new that I could possibly suck at. Haha.
