Thursday at pbevent

I've done ProBlogger now. And I'm planning to do it again. But my head is still overwhelmed today. From waking up on Wednesday morning with a toothache (remember, Wednesday was a public holiday, so I couldn't see a doctor until Thursday morning), to crying all the way to the doctor's on Thursday morning because I didn't know if I'd see the kids before they went to school (Thursday was stressful, people!), Toni and I were on the road by 1pm as planned.

We arrived (Toni doesn't trust GPS, but we didn't get lost once, unlike when we went to the city a couple of days before and I drove) just behind Dana, who had booked our room, so we stopped worrying about our room, and checked in.
Beautiful crisp sheets, soft down pillows (that make me realise my pillows at home are crap), and a clean shiny bathroom greeted us at RACV Royal Pines. The only downside of the room was no bath. We'll know for next time to book the spa rooms!

By the time we were settled in our room, it was time to head downstairs for the newbie orientation and check in. We grabbed our lanyards, threw them on our necks, and stood around whispering to each other, feeling totally out of place, just like everyone else there!
Darren welcomed everyone to the event, and explained the Olympus bingo (forgot to photograph it - a series of questions like "someone who has a selfie on their social media profiles" and "more than 500 followers", designed as an ice breaker), and then the noise exploded! I've never heard so much noise in one place before, and I almost headed for the hills, but Tonya arrived, and found me, and my nerves calmed. It was so great to finally meet Tonya! We've both been writing for And Sew We Craft since it started, and we only live a few hours apart, but it's just never happened until now, and she is so much more awesome in real life!

Then it was time to head down to the restaurant for dinner. We joined Karen and her (huge) booking, and met some new people and listened in on conversations, and indulged in food without being interrupted by small people.

Toni's a bit of a night owl, so we stayed up and chatted until 11pm when we both crashed out quickly. And then it was Friday morning.

There are so many stories to tell, I've decided to break it up into posts this week. Easier for you to read, and for me to write.

  1. It was great to see you even if just for a moment. I was glad to get a taste of the socialising and admit to being very jealous of everyone staying for the long weekend of PB.

  2. That's a great wrap up of the first night! I know what you mean about the noise at the newbie orientation. My ears were ringing and my throat was sore afterwards. I saw you and Toni several times but never managed to get a chance for a decent chat. I was always on my way to something or other! I'll be doing several #PBevent posts too - there's too much for one post! :-)

    1. I really enjoyed watching your progress over the weekend. You seemed so worried about going but it looked as though you really did enjoy yourself. I WILL not miss another year! xx N

  3. It was nice to meet you Kate. That first night was loud for sure and maybe it was because I headed home at nights and had to sneak out at afternoon tea on the first day to pick up the kids that I didn't feel I had as much time as I would have liked to connect with everyone.

  5. That very first newbie session was pretty intense but I suppose the good thing was that everyone was in the same boat.

  7. I wish we had a bath sooooo bad. I had a bath with bub last night, but having someone climb all over you and stick bath appliqués all over your boobs doesn't make for a relaxing experience. One day I will get to have a bath by myself.

  8. So excited to read all about it. Sounds like it all got off to a great start despite the tooth issue!

  9. I'm so glad you attended, it was a fab weekend. I can't believe you hadn't met Tonya before I had totally assumed you would have at Brissy get togethers.
