5 things that won't be in our lives in 5 years

Today's prompt from the archives share a post from a past May. Either repost, or update on something that happened. The catch? It has to be at least two years old. (If you haven't been blogging that long, that's ok, go back six months to a year, instead.)
I love diving into my archives to read past words. Diving through May two years ago, I was visiting me at 34 weeks pregnant. So I decided to go back even further, and stumbled on this gem from 2011. The blog I linked to is gone, but the idea of thinking about the things we won't have in five years is still an important one. For us, we still have the car, and will have it for another five years.
But we won't have my brother's old car tucked down the side of the house.
We still have a high chair in the kitchen (although it's a different one), but it will be gone in 5 years. And we haven't even started that kitchen renovation, so the white cupboard is still there.
We ended up getting a round trampoline because someone fell through the mat of the other one. But this one probably won't last another five years.
The kids have an old CRT tv downstairs that definitely won't last another five years.
The dog won't last another five years, she's fourteen now.
We won't have the old Hills Hoist. And probably not the swing set, either.
We may or may not have the cat. We've had her for 8 years, and she was about 2 years old when she came home with us, so she may or may not be around for another five years.

What won't you have in five years?

Tomorrow's prompt  foods we eat. Do you menu plan, or fly by the seat of your pants each day? Do you eat the same foods over and over, or try new foods regularly?

  1. I won't have my laptop in 5 years. It's on its last legs now so I'm not even sure if it will last the year.

    1. I don't think my laptop will last the year, for completely different reasons!

    1. I still have my very first baby carrier, I couldn't pass it on to anyone because it was so comfy!

  3. Looking around at the toys I still have despite my children now being tweens/teens and not playing with them, I definitely won't have the majority of them in 5 years time. Our car may be gone, as will my desktop computer!

  4. In 5 years I hope to no longer be rocking a permanent set of eye bags that make me look like one of the Rolling Stones. Kids do EVENTUALLY sleep right???

  6. Maybe no more baby stuff in 5 years. I think I'm happy with 2 kids. Probably at least one different car.

  8. If 5 years we won't be living here anymore. Now idea where we will be though.

We also won't have our beloved labrador because she is now 11 years old so is doing pretty good for a lab but I think she only has 2 years left in her max. I'll be really sad when she does die though.

  9. It's a bit sad thinking about what might not be here in five years, especially the pets! Having said that I hope this house isn't here because that means we're on the path to building the dream house 😀

  10. How FUN to look back and see which of your predictions came true. Being married to an avid collector, it's hard to say what we won't have in five years! LOL

  11. I probably won't have my cats in 5 years because they're almost 9 and almost 8 now :(
Will probably still have everything else though assuming we have more babies.

  13. In five years I won't have:

    1. my current (15yo) car - I hope!
    2. three children living at home
    3. three children coming with us on holidays
    4. these kitchen cupboards
    5. these curtains

Or maybe this is a "tell her she's dreamin'" list? But really, with two girls who are 18 and 19 this year the days of having the kids around are numbered. And the boy might just never leave home. Should stop feeding him and making him think this is a good place to be!

  14. I wont have tiny feet pattering around the house all day in five years. I won't have half the gadgets I have now, technology moves too fast for that. I won't have the $10 that is sitting in my purse.

  15. We won't have a 7 seater car, as our two eldest will have left home (or be driving their own car at least!)

  16. I expect that in 5 years time I won't have any of my daughters still living at home, probably won't have my 2002 Honda Odyssey that currently has 153,000 miles, hopefully won't still have folding tables as my work desk (seriously on the prowl for a REAL desk!), and hopefully won't have my current bathrooms that are original to the house (27 years) and sorely in need of gutting and redoing. I'm also hoping I won't have nearly so much clutter! :)

  17. In the next five years I probably won't have my Hyundai as it is getting old, Tiny cat will probably no longer be with us because of his age and health, won't have the same bed - we need another new one, and I am sure my laptop will be gone by then as ours never seem to last that long

  18. That's an interesting prompt, and great photos ... I felt a little sad about your dog and possibly, the cat too :(. I guess my thoughts were: possibly my dad (91 now), the car (5 already), my laptop (things change so fast and constant upgrades to software needed), the view from my daughter's room of the hills (neighbours building an extension which will cut it out), and ?.
