Hello Monday

hello editorial calendar I failed at writing every day this month because I let my brain think it was too hard to do without a plan. So I'm spending this week putting together a plan to write every day in May. It's been a couple of years since I've managed it, but I've always found more success when I've got topics #lightbulbmoment

hello illness I've got Riley home from school today after a slightly vomitous weekend full of snot and coughs. Yep, it's as gross as it sounds, but fortunately he's discovered the toilet and his aim is true #mumlife

hello homework I hate enforcing kids homework, and don't believe that kids in primary school should have homework besides reading and spelling practise. But I've seen Douglas refuse to do homework in high school, and watched Natalie struggle with maths concepts, and spoken to teachers about the areas Sophie and Riley are struggling with, and realised that we all need to get better about having a homework routine. I'm not sure that I can solve the problem for Douglas, but I can help the others put things into place now that should set them up for better success in later years.

hello habits I've come to realise that the best way to make things happen consistently is for them to become habits. And if I really want to walk the dogs consistently, or write every day then I need to make them habits and part of my daily routine.

hello newsletter After listening to my friend Shell chatting to Tracy from Mums With Hustle on the most recent podcast I'm all inspired to refresh and renew my newsletter. After all, I'm paying to use ConvertKit, and not actually using it! [In fact, it's been so long since I've sent a newsletter that things have changed at CK and I've had to figure it out all over again. If you're not already on my list, hop on and see if I've done it right, please?]

hello Monday, a new start every week.

  1. I agree, you really need to make something an automatic habit to really stick at it.
Good luck with the homework situation, it's never too late to enforce a homework routine as soon as they get home from school - get it over and done with and everybody's happy!
