What is it about first birthdays? We've been to two in the last month, and both didn't seem to live up to what we expected... Is it because we expected too much? Because we know what effort we are putting in to Nat's first birthday party (which we're combining with her naming ceremony in three weeks time), or because of the parties we have been to that were actually fun to be at, where there was food available - and more than egg sandwiches! And people spoke to us, more than to say goodbye - not even a thank you for the gift, or even to tell us they were opening the presents now!!
Ah, well, my mother taught me better manners than that, and I'm gong to throw the sort of party that I will have fun at!!
