an ordinary day

{blogging for scrapbookers prompt 4}

Yesterday, I was busy. I got so busy, I actually turned the computer OFF! I was busy planning this post in my head, thinking about Christmas plans, sitting at the dining room while Riley slept peacefully in his rocker, and Natalie and Caiden trashed the rumpus room... And then it struck me - the floor was crunchy beneath my feet! That sounds terrible, and it is, but the dining room only gets used by the children for breakfast in the mornings (we have a second table downstairs that we all gather around for dinner each night)

So, I took action! Now, if you know me even a little bit, you know that I don't do housework. I never have, and I'm not about to start now. Don't get me wrong, I cook every meal, clean the dishes, make sure all the laundry gets done, scrub toilets and showers, but vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, that's all hubby's domain. In fact, I don't even nest when I'm pregnant. But yesterday, I swept the floor, mopped the floor, and then decided that the whole toilet needed doing! Seven year old boys are gross! But the whole ceramic toilet is cleaned, scrubbed inside and out, the skirting board is {mostly} clean, floors mopped and smelling sweet and fresh.

As for the dining room - all the scrappy stuff is gone, those reusable green bags that multiply on their own are tucked out of the way, all the milo flakes are picked up off the floor, and everything is mopped and smelling fresh and clean... until tea time when one of the toddlers dropped greasy chicken wings on the floor, and in the way of toddlers, chased them around the floor, trying to pick them up. Oh, well, I can {try} and do it all again next week.
