stepping out of my comfort zone

Back in February I headed off to a bloggers meet and greet. I never blogged about it, because I had mixed feelings about it, and figured that if I had mixed feelings it was probably best to say nothing at all.

I've continued talking to some of the bloggers I met, through their blogs, facebook pages, and some of them have even "friended" me on facebook. So when someone suggested a middle-of-the-week, just-up-the-road get-together, I jumped at it (although by the time I actually left the house I was quaking in my shoes.)

This was the view from the esplanade the coffee shop is on. The forecast rain never made an appearance.

This dude was super-awesome, watching Peppa Pig and Handy Manny the whole time. We won't talk about the minor-fall-from-the-lap the iPad had, or the cost for replacing the screen.

From left to right - Life of the Bees, Little Swallow, Suger Coat It, Aspiring Mum, Sew Cook Laugh Live, Mrs BCs House of Chaos, Redcliffe Style, (and I'm afraid I missed the name of the lady on the end, and no-one seems to know)

I still have mixed feelings about this - I'm finding it very hard to be an introvert in an extrovert's world, and I'm not very good at putting myself out there (yes, I know you don't believe me, but it's true.) But I'm getting better. And I'll go along to the next get-together (hopefully it's a child-free day, then I don't have to divide my attention. But he was very well behaved.)

Do you meet up with your blog friends in real life?

  1. Next time we'll know to plonk you right in the very middle. You won't be able to help but be caught up in the chatter. ;)

I'm so glad you keep coming out. One day, these ladies will just be friends and the worry will be gone. Trust an old pro.

  3. Cate, I was so nervous about today! This is my first meet-up and I had palpitations! I'm an introvert as well, but I enjoyed today - even though I was up the other end from you and didn't really get to chat with you. I love how you captured me drinking a coffee - that is so me :) (I'm not sure of the other lady - is it Blundermum? Rachel mentioned in the facebook group that she was coming.)

  8. It was a fantastic lunch & I am glad you came. I am positive we will be doing it more often. It was a little hard talking to you when you were way down the other end but I am sure we will make up for it next time. xx

  9. Cate, I think you should be very proud of yourself for stepping out of your comfort zone. I haven't been blessed yet to meet any of my blogging buddies but from an AOL scrapbooking msg bd maaannny years ago I formed a small group. We are now like sisters and get together every other year. We are spread across the US. It will get easier and easier and I agree they should put you mid table ;) Bravo for the little guy being so well behaved!
