Hello Monday

hello, photos. I've just realised this morning as I was looking for a photo for this post that I haven't been taking many photos with my big camera. Since I got it in January, I love my photos way more than from the iPhone, so I really need to get better at getting out of the house and taking photos of our days again. Which leads to my next point.

hello, memory keeping. Most people don't get scrapbooking. But taking photos to remember the moment, they understand. I had an amazing idea recently. I'm not totally sure I'm the person to pull it off, but this week I need to outline my plan and see if I can make it work. Which leads me to the next point.

hello, brainstorming. When I was at primary school, I was taught to brainstorm {or mind map} using butchers paper and markers and free writing. It's a method of following ideas that I come back to again and again, because you can visually see the thoughts as you write them down and that suits me. Toni had a clever idea yesterday, something for she and I to work on together. We brainstormed via chat, but there's only so much of that you can do. So we're going to get together later this week, to write out our ideas, and find the excuses why it can't work and shoot them down, and keep each other excited about making things happen.

hello, new car. We recently sold Steve's motorbike. We just couldn't afford another rego any longer, and thought we'd invest the money into getting Steve's car working properly. Then Steve changed jobs, and his pay went down and we got behind in bills, and most of the money from the bike sale went towards those bills. You can see where this is going, can't you? Steve's car broke down yesterday. And while there's still money in the bank from the sale of the bike, we don't think it's worth investing in the car. {throwing good money after bad, and all that}  Someone has offered to by the project car, and Steve and I will go for a drive later in the week to get the new-to-us car that a mate from work just happened to be selling.

hello, pupil free day. I've heard lots of complaints this morning from people in our local area who didn't realise today was a pupil free day for students. It's been a pupil free day for as long as I can remember (which isn't as long as you think, baby brain and all that) But I've had to cancel our planned beach outing with Toni and Caitlin because I'm stuck at home with no car (see previous point about broken-down car) I think it might be time to head outside into the sunshine and look at the jacaranda from a different perspective, because these kids are driving me nuts!

hello, Monday, a new start every week.

  1. Beautiful jacaranda. Wish I still had one. All I have is the scraggly wisteria type plant along the back fence.

  2. I have a habit of taking photos on my iPhone instead of my real camera too. I think its convenience, but the real camera is just miles better! I need to use it more.

  6. I can't wait until our backyard is done and we can play in the backyard more too. I guess that's why I go out so much, cos I can't handle being couped up inside.

  7. I'm guilty of using my iphone camera a lot more too. I guess it's just more handy. All the best for buying your new car.

  8. I'm intrigued by your new idea - hopefully you and Toni can make it happen after your old-school brainstorming session!

  9. Hopefully you found some peace in the jacaranda x
I had a thought myself about taking photos this week. It's a bit like winning the lottery, you have to be in it to win it. To get great shots and capture awesome memories, you have to be taking your camera everywhere. Like the lottery ticket in your wallet. Make sense? It was a bit of an epiphany to me.

  10. Hope you found some peace and quiet in the garden and that new car works out for you both. You don't realise how much you rely on it until there's a problem #mummymondays

  11. Sounds like you have some creative ideas simmering there! Good luck with the car shopping. My kids are past school age now, and I must confess I had no idea it was a pupil free day til I saw something about it on the news last night!
