Today's recipe is cardamom snaps, a recipe from "Family Circle" magazine, December 2008 - this magazine was discontinued on a monthly basis about three years ago, after thirty-odd years of publication, but is still so popular that they do three seasonal issues each year, which of course I buy and keep ~lol~ I've still provided the American conversions for your tasting pleasure!

~~ ingredients ~~
185g butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1tsp bicarb
1 & 1/2tsp ground cardamom
1tsp ground cinnamon
1/4cup treacle or molasses
1 egg
2 & 1/4 cup plain (all purpose) flour
~~ method ~~
cream butter and sugar
add bicarb, spices, treacle, egg, beat well
add flour, blend until just combined
roll into balls, dredge in cardamom sugar
(1/2tsp ground cardamom combined with 1/4 cup caster sugar)
bake 8-10min 180 C (375 F)

I don't think we've had a failure of cookies yet ~lol~ Douglas says they are his second-favourite of all the cookies I've made!
