cookie swap blog hop

We interrupt your regularly scheduled cookie exchange to take you on another blog hop around the world!
Welcome, and thanks for dropping by!
Today's recipe is cardamom snaps, a recipe from "Family Circle" magazine, December 2008 - this magazine was discontinued on a monthly basis about three years ago, after thirty-odd years of publication, but is still so popular that they do three seasonal issues each year, which of course I buy and keep ~lol~ I've still provided the American conversions for your tasting pleasure!

~~ ingredients ~~
185g butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1tsp bicarb
1 & 1/2tsp ground cardamom
1tsp ground cinnamon
1/4cup treacle or molasses
1 egg
2 & 1/4 cup plain (all purpose) flour

~~ method ~~
cream butter and sugar
add bicarb, spices, treacle, egg, beat well
add flour, blend until just combined
roll into balls, dredge in cardamom sugar
(1/2tsp ground cardamom combined with 1/4 cup caster sugar)
bake 8-10min 180 C (375 F)

~~ review ~~
I don't think we've had a failure of cookies yet ~lol~ Douglas says they are his second-favourite of all the cookies I've made!
Now, that's a good review!

Now you're off to Anne's blog to check out her recipe for gooey chocolate cherry cookies!

  2. Those look really good. I've only ever used cardamom in Indian food; I had no idea you could bake with it.
