Douglas headed off on his very first school camp this morning. It was a kind of strange morning in our house - he was up, dressed, fed, chores finished, shoes waiting by the door by 7am, so he then sorted Natalie's lunchbox, packed her bag, fixed her breakfast. (this is a big change from the usual I-don't-want-to-it's-not-my-job arguments every. single. morning.)
As I clicked away with my camera, I had some random thoughts
- I'm the only parent here with a camera
- I gave up a scrapbooking retreat for this
- I'm not staying to wave the bus off
- I'll be here with camera in hand when he returns
- he is going to give me a kiss goodbye
And with that, I got my kiss, and left him to his camp. I'm hoping he remembers to take at least a couple of photos for me. And he has lots of fun.
Do you remember your first school camp?
I'm not sure what school camps are. I went to summer camp three years but think that is entirely different. Congrats to Douglas for a great start to the day, love that he has embraced the "new" way of doing things.
ReplyDeleteHope he has a blast! I was about 11 when I first went..and we went for a month!
