Natalie, 5 months old |
Riley, ten minutes old |
18+1 |
We found out last week with our amnio results, and I can't figure out how I got it so wrong!
Let's look at some old wives tales, and compare them to my pregnancy (and the previous two), and see if we can figure it out together.
old wives tale - combine mum's age at conception and the number of the month of conception, if the result is odd, then it's a girl; even, it's a boy
Natalie = 39 Riley = 47 ? = 48old wives tale - craving sweet food? it's a girl. craving salty or sour food, it's a boy
Natalie = ice cream Riley = sweet thai chilli chips ? = fruit saladold wives tale - if you have morning sickness in early pregnancy, it's a girl. if not, it's a boy.
Natalie = 24/7, until birth Riley = 24/7 until 16wks, then 26wks until birth ? = stopped at 12wksold wives tale - if your right breast is bigger, it's a boy. if it's the left, it's a girl
Natalie = left Riley = left ? = left (after years of breast feeding, I'm lopsided!)old wives tale - if you sleep on your left side, it's a boy. if you sleep on the right, it's a girl.
Natalie = right Riley = left ? = leftold wives tale - if your belly looks like a basket ball, it's a boy. if it looks like a watermelon, it's a girl.
Natalie = watermelon Riley = basket ball ? = you decideHave a guess, what do you think I'm having?
Were any of those old wives tales true for you?
I'll be back on Sunday to tell you baby's gender

My bets are on a boy! Or maybe a girl???? ;)
ReplyDeleteMilo was supposed to be a girl...!! EVERYTHING said girl. I 'knew' he was a boy, or maybe I wanted a girl that badly, that I told myself it would be a boy to avoid disappointment... Which happened anyway =/ I really hope we get a girl next time around, but have decided to not find out when the time comes I think.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting Cate. Hope all the shock has worn off, you make beautiful babies, whatever sex they might be :) xx
I craved salty (plain potato chips, toasted ham sandwiches) with my boy; barely any morning sickness. I was sicker with my girl. Had a "gut instinct" (pardon the pun!) about what I was having with both and I was right :-)
ReplyDeleteI was convinced my youngest was a girl. I was wrong!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard the breast one before.
ReplyDeleteI didn't accept anyone's intuition about my baby's gender. Only it knew. Besides, 50% of people were wrong! All I can go on is statistics...every single person I know when pregnant has a girl, unless they already have a girl. Congratulations on number 5! Big family, wow. Zanni http://heartmama.net
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the fact you will soon be having a boy to kiss, cuddle and adore you! With my three I was blind for my first two but found out for my third! Have you heard about the ring thing, where it's dangled over your belly?? All the best, found you via FYBF - Emily
ReplyDeleteSome of those old wives tales definitely don't work for me - I was so sure I was having a boy (not because I had tried any of those but because I thought I knew !!!) and when a girl popped out I told them to check and double check because I was so sure I was having a boy !!!
ReplyDeleteHave the best week and thanks for stopping by my blog !
Me
I just had a gut feeling with both of mine...and was right both times!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Well according to most of those OWT you should be having a girl, so I'm guessing a boy :)
ReplyDeleteFascinating, as I had no idea about all those old wives' tales! I wouldn't dare guess ... though as I've got a 50/50 chance ... I'm going with boy. :)
ReplyDeletePS Unless it's twins, one of each?
ReplyDeleteOh you little tease! I thought you were going to tell us! I've been guessing you're having a girl, but apparently there's no rhyme or reason to the guessing method!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was pregnant with Carrie my doctor guessed she was a boy based on the rate of her heartbeat. I had no ultrasound at that time because it was a healthy pregnancy and "back then" they didn't do ultrasounds unless there was a problem. Imagine my surprise (and JOY!) when she was born and the doctor said, "It's a girl!"
Can't wait to hear what you're having!!! :o)
I've never heard a few of these before! I'm guessing a boy?
