Twinkl printables for all ages

As school holidays approach around here, the kids start asking what we're doing. They're mostly asking us to spend money we don't have to entertain them for five minutes until they're bored, and it drives me nuts. I'm always on the lookout for things suitable for all ages in the house, that don't cost huge amounts of money. And if the kids learn things without realising it, that's a bonus to me!

So when I heard that Twinkl had printables suitable for big kids and little kids alike, I wanted to check them out and see if they would work for my kids. I spent a long time getting lost in the website with all the fantastic resources. There's playdough recipes, and ideas for baby busy bags, and story stone printables (I found at least 50 different sets!) and sensory bottle ideas (as well as a whole heap of other things) for little ones.

For school age kids, the Australian curriculum resources were pretty spot on. Just before the school holidays, Riley had been working on "How the birds got their colours" so I printed out those resources, and he was quiet for a good half hour or more, working through the word search and colouring in. Anything that keeps him busy enough to forget he's hungry is worth it to me!

But the best bit for our school holidays were the 3D models. There were these Marvel-style people, Star Wars-inspired ships, cone people that were easy for Sophie and Riley to do, and so much more. I printed them out on 200GSM cardstock, found scissors and double-sided tape, and let them have at it. The quiet for an hour was deafening (then the bickering started when the younger ones struggled to fold them properly, and everyone needed Douglas to help.right.now.)

I've already started downloading printables for the upcoming Christmas holidays, there's a 3D train and presents, playdough mats, craft ideas, and classroom decorations (which we're going to print out and hang in the rumpus room) and so much more.

  3. I know that when kids are on breaks they are always bored... haha when we would come up to my mom when we were kids and say that we "were bored" she would give us a chore to do. Stopped us from saying that really fast. I love this Twinkle idea though. The Marvel figures look a lot like the Pop Figures you see around. I know lots of kids that would love them :)
