Fudgey Chocolate Slice

Today's prompt share a recipe we all have that one recipe we could make with our eyes closed, we make it so often. Tell us the story of that recipe, and don't forget to link up with Fabulous Foodie Fridays.
I've been making this slice for at least 15 years. (Just quietly, it was one of Chloe's favourites when she was little) It's become a firm lunch box favourite over the years, but like most things, I make it too often, because the kids eat it, then they stop eating it and I don't bake it. I whipped it up this morning for lunch boxes in less than thirty minutes, but it's so simple that Douglas or Natalie could actually make it by themselves.

Ingredients
1 cup self-raising flour
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup brown sugar
2Tb cocoa
1 egg
125g butter, melted
  • dump dry ingredients in a bowl
  • add butter and egg, stir until combined
  • pour into slice tray, smooth out with wet fingers if necessary
  • bake 180°C for 20 minutes
1 cup icing sugar
1Tb cocoa
1Tb milk
15g butter
  • place all ingredients in microwave safe bowl
  • zap 30 seconds in microwave
  • stir until smooth, spread over cooled slice
What's your favourite slice?

  1. I love those recipes, the ones that you make over and over until everyone stops eating it and you have to give it a break. They are the best ones!

  2. My kids are like that too - if you make it too often, it loses its appeal as a favorite.
