Where were you when | you heard Diana was dead

Today marks 15 years since Diana, Princess of Wales died. I was heading to a friend's house for a BBQ, 2 months pregnant with Chloe, and had just been fired from my job.

  1. I was driving along and saw someone had graffitied out the driver on a "Do you trust your driver" drink-driving awareness poster and put in chauffeur :)

  2. I was holding my Nanna's hand as she grimaced in pain and went on to pass away several days later. I remember all she could talk about was the sad news that Princess Diana had died.

  3. I'd been at the beach all day with hubs and our 4 yr old, and it was late afternoon when we got to my parents for dinner. They hadn't had the tv on at all, so none of us had a clue until my sister came home and told us. We didn't believe her until we turned on the tv and saw for our selves! I think it's one of those moments, like 9/11. So sad then, and still is now.

  4. Wow, is it 15 years? I was at my then boyfriends house, suffering a bit of a hangover (!!!) when his flatmate told us. It explained why there was total radio silence that morning!

  6. At home, the Sunday paper had been delivered and the front page just said there had been an accident. I turned on the news and noticed they were talking about her in the past tense and realised she must have died. I probably cried most of the day. My children are a similar age to hers and I just kept thinking about them and how they must be feeling to lose their mum so young and in such a way.

  7. Gosh, yes - 15 years! I was newly married, and we've just celebrated our 15th anniversary. We were living in a shared student house for the first couple of weeks of marriage (not ideal...!) I was still in bed; The Doctor had gone down to put the kettle on, and came back up to tell me the sad news :(

  8. I'm in the States and I was online when the news of the accident hit the internet. I called down the hall to my oldest daughter to tell her. It seemed like no time at all before the news had changed from accident to dead. It was such a shock and so incredibly sad.

  9. We had just moved to the NE of England, but Kirsty and I were up visiting mum and dad in Scotland, before Kirsty started her new school...when I got up that morning, dad had the TV on and at that point it was reported as an accident..we were all really shocked when we discovered she had actually died
